Packaging Robot

A packaging robot cell is built around a robotic arm designed to lift and palletize concrete products using a vacuum tool head and/or a mechanical clamping system. The robotic arm is high speed, very precise and flexible; while the vacuum hand is extremely powerful and capable of lifting products weighing up to 700 lbs. and handling them at full extension and maximum speed. Substantially overcoming the limitations of traditional packaging methods, the robot can easily handle products of virtually any shape.

Operation

Travelling on boards or directly on conveyors, products enter the robot cell. The robot then picks up the products and stacks them directly on a pallet or a conveyor with high speed and precision. The robot can palletize products vertically and horizontally. The robotic cell can include a single or multiple manipulation robots for added functionality or a shorter cycle time. The tool is as effective in manipulating large heavy concrete slabs as it is manipulating thin Styrofoam sheets, or other protective accessories, placed between products to protect their surface during transportation. For added stability during transportation, the robot is capable of alternating the direction with which the products are placed on the pallet.

Features/Benefits/Innovations

  • User-friendly interface
  • Options
    • 3D camera vision system for recognizing stones of different shapes and sizes
    • Not limited to solely packaging, the robot can easily be used in mid-production for manipulating products from one process to the next
